The platform’s working groups
Five thematic working groups form the heart of the Global Peoples Platform for Socio-Ecological Transformation. The groups were formed during the platform’s kick-off workshop in Germany in 2023, and constitute five key pillars for a socio-ecological transformation of the economy. The groups challenge the systematic injustices embedded in the current system benefitting profit over people and the planet from different angles and together form a united effort to advocate for systemic change.
All groups are transcontinental and bring together a diversity of actors, facilitating exchange, mutual learning, collective advocacy and international solidarity.
Being diverse not only in their composition, but also their thematic focus, the groups have developed different ways of working together, and set individual foci on their work.

Structure and Governance of the Platform
While the groups work largely independent from one another, each group has one appointed coordinator who forms, together with the coordinators of other groups, the platform’s steering committee. The steering committee meets regularly and is responsible for making important decisions jointly, maintain exchange with the other groups, and drive the platform forward.
The steering committee and all activities are coordinated by a project coordinator based within the host organisation FOCUS on the Global South. Misereor, as the project initiator, takes on a consulting role, and is a regular member of the steering committee.
